COLAGE Applauds Mexico City Marriage Decision Jan 5 10
COLAGE applauds the city legislators of Mexico City for their recognition of same sex marriage. On December 21, 2009, city officials passed legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry and adopt children in the capitol city of Mexico. This law makes Mexico City the first city in Latin America to legally recognize gay marriage.
Though LGBTQ families are just like other families in many ways, people with LGBTQ parents and our families face the everyday reality that our families are treated differently. Marriage equality laws such as this provide COLAGErs in Mexico City with important legal recognition.
COLAGE will continue to work for the day when all children of LGBTQ families gain the rights, recognition and respect that every family deserves.
