COLAGE Board of Directors
Whitney Moses, 27, Oakland, CA - Chair Whitney is a Boston/New York native who now lives in Oakland where she works as a massage therapist and dancer in a national performance group. Whitney's bisexual/biracial father died of AIDS in 1991 and she has since actively done AIDS education, walk-a-thons, dance-a-thons, and rides. Whitney was a COLAGE summer intern in 2003 and has since volunteered on staff at our annual Family Weeks, conferences, and other local and national COLAGE events. Tobi Hill-Meyer, 24, Eugene, OR - Treasurer Tobi grew up in Oregon with her lesbian moms and younger brother. While a student, Tobi was the Finance Senator of the Associated Students of University of Oregon, and has continued sharing her financial expertise as Board Treasurer of a local PAC, Equality Network. Tobi is a Technical Writer for Bedford, Freeman, and Worth Publishers. She self-publishes a sex-positive zine series, leads workshops and presentations on a wide range of issues such as trans inclusion, linguistics, sexual and gender identity, and queerspawn issues. She originally connected with COLAGE through online listserves and communities. Kelly Densmore, 24, Oakland, CA - Secretary Kelly, a two-time COLAGE intern, is originally from a small town north of San Francisco. A graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Feminist Studies, Kelly has a lesbian mom, a straight dad, a step-mom, a brother and two stepbrothers. Kelly works as an artist making jewelry. She also volunteers Just Cause Oakland, a social and economic justice organization, currently conducting research for an anti-gentrification campaign. Michelle Duso, 39, Cranston, RI Michelle is a dynamic leader who brings nearly two decades of nonprofit and community building experience to the COLAGE board. She is the former executive director of a statewide nonprofit working with and for LGBTQQ youth in RI. Michelle recently founded POWER4GOOD, a consulting firm specializing in youth development & engagement, coalition building and work with LGBTQQ communities. She lives with her partner and their three children, and became involved with COLAGE after enjoying Provincetown Family Week activities for several years. She's also a fan of good food, time with friends and family, music and running in the woods. Dakota Fine, 25, Washington, DC Dakota is a photographer. He recently worked for Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and completed a fellowship with the Human Rights Campaign's department of Public Education and Outreach focused on healthcare, education and adoption issues as they pertain to LGBT families. Dakota is a delegate to the Emerging Progressives network as an experienced organizer working for progressive political campaigns. Dakota has been a COLAGE spokesperson since he was 14 and facilitator for many COLAGE youth programs over the past four years. Gary Knoblock, 43, San Francisco, CA Gary and his siblings were raised by their lesbian mother, her long-term partner, their father and stepmother. Gary brings 12 years of non-profit management experience to our board. Currently he is a Program Officer at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in San Francisco. He formerly served as Executive Director of the Pt. Reyes National Seashore Association, on the board of directors of the CA Children, Youth & Families Coalition and actively volunteered for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation before riding in and raising funds for the California AIDS Ride. Kyle Michaels, 17, Cedar Park, TX Kyle has two lesbian moms and was born through donor insemination. She is a senior at Cedar Park High School where she is involved in the dance team, the school's drug-free organization, and is on the street team for the band Every Avenue. She has attended Family Week in Provincetown for the past 7 years and COLAGE's youth leadership and activism conference, Act OUT in Dallas, October 2006. She was also featured in the documentary "Queer Spawn." Kate Oliver, MSW, LCSW-C, 32, Columbia, MD Kate is a Social Worker in private practice and lives with her husband and two daughters. Kate was raised by her father, mother and father's partner. Kate has been an advocate for her community for over a decade and has been on numerous Equality Maryland panels, testified on legislation that affects her family and created professional courses to educate other social workers about families in the LGBTQ community. Kate currently volunteers with the National Association of Social Workers on the Committee on Sexual Minority Issues, and in the past, participated in the Avon Breast Cancer 3 day walk, the Sexual Trauma, Treatment, Advocacy and Recovery Center (for the crisis hotline), and the Grant-A-Wish Foundation. Heliana Ramirez, 31, Burlingame, CA Raised in a large Catholic, Mexican-Irish-Czech family, Heliana grew up with two gay dads, one straight mom, three brothers, four grandparents and thirty three aunts, uncles and cousins. A mixed race, Queer Chicana Feminista, Heliana is a social worker by profession, activist by necessity and Spoken Word artist by inspiration. As a Community Care Program Case Manager for the Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Palo Alto, Heliana provides psychosocial rehabilitation to veterans living with severe mental illness and is particularly interested in culturally relevant harm reduction in terms of disease, overdose and violence prevention. Julia Siegenberg, 15, Waltham, MA Julia is the eldest of three sisters and lives alternately with her mother and mother's male partner and her gay father. She is a sophomore (10th grade) at Boston University Academy. Julia has attended many COLAGE Boston meetings and workshops; participated in Family Week in Provincetown for the past 4 years; and spoken on a number of panels focusing on children of LGBT parents. Julia previously volunteered at the Jewish Coalition for Literacy, Cradles for Crayons, The Food Project, Walk For Hunger and is currently training to volunteer at a suicide prevention hotline. |
