He told the crowd of LGBT couples, allies, tourists, members of PFLAG, and the press that equal rights to marriage are a human right, not just a special right for heterosexual couples. Well done, Luke! Follow this link to find out more about the rally. (You can see two COLAGErs in the background on the left!) Here's a note from Marriage Equality: Currently, Marriage Equality has rallies planned on October 14th in San Francisco (5:30pm at Harvey Milk Plaza), Sacramento (5:30pm at the Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Center) and Mendocino (5:30pm at the Court House in Ukiah). If you would like to take the lead in organizing a community response in another location, please let us know the time and the place you propose so we can keep a list of statewide events and coordinate sending out a packet of materials, press releases and messaging materials. Email Pamela Brown, Marriage Equality Policy Director. In the meantime, call the Governor's office today 916 445 2841 or FAX a note 916 445 4633 and ask him to be a hero and sign AB 43 into law! |
