Hear It From Us: Panel of Youth with LGBTQ Parents -- March 24th Mar 10 09
Join us for this exciting panel! We still have room for a few panelists -- interested youth and young adults with LGBTQ parents email monica@colage.org today!!
In the wake of Proposition 8 passing in California, LGBTQ families
continue to be debated in courtrooms, legislatures, and media. The
debate often turns to the question, ‘What about the children?’ In this
critical moment, the public needs to hear from the experts – youth and
young adults with LGBTQ parents themselves.
COLAGE Bay Area presents “Hear It From Us: A Panel of Youth with LGBTQ
Parents” at the San Francisco LGBT Center Rainbow Room, Tuesday March
24th from 6-7:30pm. The event is open to the public and provides a
rare opportunity to hear directly from youth and young adults who have
one or more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or queer parents.
Panelists will share personal and inspiring accounts from their
experiences in schools, in their families and in the larger community.
“As people with LGBTQ parents, we need to stand up and speak for
ourselves,” said Monica Canfield-Lenfest, COLAGE Bay Area Chapter
Coordinator. “Youth with LGBTQ parents have a valuable perspective and
this panel provides a venue for them to share with the public.”
Join us for this opportunity to learn from the experiences of youth
with LGBTQ parents. This event is perfect for LGBTQ parents, youth
ages 10 and up, prospective parents, and anyone who wants to learn
more about the experiences of the youth of the LGBTQ community. Free
childcare will be offered by the SF LGBT Center’s Kid Space. This
event is co-sponsored by COLAGE, Our Family Coalition and the SF LGBT
Center. RSVP or more information – monica@colage.org or call
