JOSHUA S., 11, DESTREHAN, LA
Tell
us about yourself:
Your
First Name and Last Initial: Joshua S.
Age: 11
Where do you live? Destrehan, LA
Tell us about your family:
I live with my two moms in Louisiana. I am very lucky to have my family because they give me great things like lots of love and support and security. We take care of each other and take turns making dinner. We play games, make up silly songs in the car, and like to go fishing.
What is your favorite hobby, sport or activity?
I love to play soccer, football, and cook! I also love animals and have two snakes, two turtles, two lizards, several mice, lots of fish, two cats, and a dog at my house.
Do you participate in any COLAGE activities, events or programs?
Which
ones? Do you like them? Why?
My family is new to Colage New Orleans. I like playing with other kids my age that have families just like mine. Most of my friends are pretty cool about my two moms, but sometimes people are mean. I don't have to explain my family to kids I meet at Colage. Our family is just normal to them.
What
is the hardest thing about having gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or
transgender parent/s?
The hardest thing about having lesbian parents is that people make fun of my family but you get used to it because it doesn't matter what other people think. It only matters what I think and I like it.
What's the best thing about having gay, lesbian, bisexual
and/or transgender parent/s?
Having two moms rocks! I know how much I am loved because they show me every day. I feel special that I have two parents who love me so much. They let me be me and support me in whatever I do. Mom and Kelly are getting married next year and I am going to be a big part of the ceremony.
