SETTING UP A SCREENING
To determine who might help you set up an OUR HOUSE screening or party, ask yourself: Who are the individuals or organizations working on this issue? Who are potential allies?

Identifying and enlisting a broad range of sponsors for a screening -- not just gay and lesbian groups -- will bring diverse constituencies into the screening, making for lively discussion and broad-based coalition building.

Remember, the size of the gathering is not the primary goal. Your event can be a success whether there are 10, 40 or 80 people.

The press can play a powerful role in your strategy. Be creative when approaching the press: you might get a positive response from arts, "living" or parenting sections as well as the community calendar editor.

An OUR HOUSE Viewer's Guide is available on-line to help you prepare for the event (you may need to download Acrobat Reader 4.0 ). It also offers many topics of discussion for before and after a screening. We encourage you to document any discussion that follows the screening whether on videotape or simply by taking notes and hope you'll share the results with us afterwards: we like to promote the work you're doing, helping to raise visibility of LGBT families everywhere.
