Written by the 9-12 group at the One-Day LGBT Conference in Dallas, TX, 2004

One day a girl from China came to America. All of her friends lived in China and she wanted to make some friends. So one day the class went out to recess. One kid ran over to a big field and said "Hey why don't we all play football?" The girl from China who was named Ye-Shong loved football.

"What a great way to make friends," thought Ye-Shong as she ran over. A boy named Matthew saw how good she was but her hair was short and she was wearing a baseball cap and jeans (She was trying to look American). So Matthew thought that she was a boy. At the end of the game,. He said "Wow you really were good!"

COLAGE Group"Thanks," she said. Once he heard her voice he realized that she was a girl. "I can't be friends with a GIRL!" he said and walked off. After that Matthew was really mean to Ye-Shong. The next day Ye-Shong dressed up as a boy and at recess they played baseball. She won the game for her team and Matthew became friends with her thinking she was a boy. He thought she was really fun to hang out with.

Later, she took off her camp and he saw that she was a girl. "But that doesn't change who I am. I am fun to hang out with, good at sports, AND I am a girl," Ye-Shong told him.

"Well I cant argue with that, " he said. So they were friends forever.

THE END
