Where do you live? Maplewood, NJ

Tell us about yourself: I have two moms, two siamese cats named Pablo and Beatrice and a frog named Brooklyn. I enjoy reading, writing, photography and knitting. I also like to garden.

Do you participate in any COLAGE activities, events or programs? I participate in the New York City Colage Chapter. This year we had a baking night and bake sale to raise money for the first ever COLAGE float in the Gay Pride Parade. I’ve also been going to Provincetown for Family Pride Week every summer since I was 3 years old. Once I became old enough to join COLAGE I did and now I’m in COLAGE Crew (the group for youth entering 6th-8th graders). I enjoy COLAGE a lot because I meet other people with LGBTQ parents.

What is the hardest thing about having gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer parent/s? The hardest thing about having LGBTQ parents is trying to explain having a donor to my friends.

What is the best thing about having gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer parent/s? It’s hard to choose the best thing about having LGBTQ parents, but I love feeling unique and marching in the New York City Gay Pride Parade.

What do you wish the world knew about people with LGBTQ parents? I wish the world knew that children with LGBTQ parents still feel extremely loved even though their families are different.

What advice or ideas would you want to share with other kids who have LGBTQ parents? I would tell other children that they should never feel ashamed about their family.
