We chose posters in order to promote visibility of families like ours, to counter the lack of positive images of youth with LGBT families, to fight the homophobia we have faced in our schools and communities, and to counter the isolation and prejudice that we and others with queer parents often face. We made the posters to make it known that families like ours exist and flourish, and we want to tell kids who have queer parents: you are not alone. There are others like you. We hope these posters will open the minds of students who have not met diverse families like ours. While the main goal of YLAP in creating the posters is to educate and spark dialogue, we are also happy that the posters give us the chance to express the pride we have in our families and in the LGBT community.

In the 3 years since we debuted the Respect All Families Posters, COLAGE has disseminated over 11,000 copies of these great resources. Bring the Respect All Families poster series into your school or community.
